Who we are

The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.

THE BRITISH COUNCIL IN ETHIOPIA
The British Council in Ethiopia creates opportunities in education, English language learning and cultural exchange.
We work with our partners, both Ethiopian and from the UK, to showcase UK excellence, innovation and creativity. We work for the benefit of the individual and for the mutual benefit of the UK and Ethiopia.
The British Council opened in Ethiopia in 1962, and has one of the busiest British Council libraries in the world.

WHERE ARE WE?
In Ethiopia our centre is based in Addis Ababa.
Our centre offers internet access, library and infromation materials and regular, free events to help you keep in touch with contemporary UK.

WORKING WITH US
We have extensive experience in educational cooperation and development. We provide our services with the help of specialist staff in Ethiopia and in the UK who can carry out policy and feasibility studies, training needs analysis, project design and preparation, project implementation and management, resource identification, services procurement, project evaluation and in-country project management training.

THE BRITISH COUNCIL - WORLDWIDE
In the UK the British Council is registered as a charity (not-for-profit-organisation) and operates as an executive non-departmental public body. We receive a grant from the British Government and are represented in 110 countries worldwide.
Our patron is Her Majesty The Queen and our Vice-Patron is His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales.
