USING THE SSC

The SSC is open to all our customers. However if you wish to borrow materials to take home you have to become a member. You can do this by filling in a membership application form (available at the SSC) and giving us:

A passport-size photograph

Your e-mail address

There are three types of membership which allow you to borrow books:

• Study Support Centre membership (JOD 15.00 per year)
• Teaching Centre Student membership (JOD 10.00 per year)
• Exams candidate free membership: exams candidates will be entitled for a one-month free membership upon registration for IELTS and ESOL exams. Should they be interested in renewing their memberships, candidates have to apply for the paid membership.

It will take us 24 hours to process your application. Once you have your SSC card, you can borrow items straight away. Please remember that you will need your card each time you borrow or renew items. Please also remember to tell us if your contact details (address/telephone number/..) change, so we can update your records.

Because you are responsible for all materials issued on your card, if you lose your card you must tell us immediately. Please note that the SSC membership fees cannot be refunded.

MEMBERSHIP STANDARDS

To replace a lost / damaged SSC card, we charge a nominal fee of JOD 5.00

To replace a lost / damaged item loaned to you, our charge is based on the cost of the item.

For all overdue items, our charge is 250 fils per day per item.

Please note we do not allow:

• Smoking in any part of the building
• Eating or drinking in the SSC
• Noise (including talking on your mobile phone) which disturbs other SSC members

The SSC is under camera surveillance at all times.

Children under the age of 11 must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Please keep your personal belongings with you at all times. The British Council does not accept any responsibility for their loss or damage.
