The Role of Sports in the Development of Children and Adolescents” Conference -2 and 3 November 2011
Under the patronage of HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein President of Jordan Olympic Committee and International Olympic Committee Member, Ministry of Education (MoE), British Council and UNICEF launch the “Role of Sports in the Development of Children and Adolescents” Conference Under International Inspiration Programme; on 2 and 3 November.
The conference aims at disseminating the results of the study “Sports and Physical Education among Children and Adolescents in Jordan: Situation and Way Forward” in order to sensitise policy makers and practitioners on the role of sports in the development of children and adolescents.
At the end of the two–day conference; several outcomes are expected; among which is to develop the policies and programmes of sports in Jordan. A number of students and PE teacher will join the policy makers in forming the recommendation of the future sport in Jordan,
Some of the Key results concluded that while attitudes to sport and play are generally positive and participation levels are reasonable both within and outside school, the survey has identified a number of issues that may have a negative effect on the development of sport and adolescents’ participation in sporting activities. around a half of all stakeholders feel that physical Education (PE) does not enjoy the same status in schools as other subjects and there is a tendency for PE classes to be given up for other subjects.
