How to prepare for IELTS?

How can you prepare for IELTS?

We offer the following services to help you to prepare thoroughly for the IELTS test:

Free Service

  • Study Support Centre (SSC)

The SSC will support your studies, career development and English language learning. As a member you can borrow English language books, use our available learning materials and resources and browse the internet. In particular IELTS candidates can benefit from the IELTS support resources: books, practice test materials, computer programmes as well as a core selection of IELTS materials that are available in Braille. Additionally, SSC staff are available to guide candidates and assist them in tailoring their own study and self-development programmes to their own particular needs to help them achieve their goals.

As an IELTS candidate you will be entitled for a one-month free membership upon registration for the exam. If you wish to extend your membership then you have to apply for the paid membership.

  • IELTS Word Power Application

IELTS Word Power is a free vocabulary practice app for IELTS test takers produced by the British Council. With over 100 questions to test word power, this app helps to build vocabulary in preparation for the IELTS test.

  • Build your IELTS vocabulary.
  • Locate your nearest British Council test centre.
  • Succeed at IELTS.

To access the app you need to have an Android mobile device (REQUIRES ANDROID 1.5 and later).

  1. Tap the “Market” icon on your android mobile or tablet
  2. Search for “IELTS Word Power”.
  3. Tap “Install”
  4. IELTS Word Power will then be installed on your Android Smartphone or tablet.

Android users can also access IELTS Word Power app Using Google Play

Step one: Set up your device to use Google Play. To use Google Play to download Android apps, you need a Google account with a Google email (either Gmail or a Google-hosted domain) associated with your phone or tablet.

Follow these steps to add an existing Google account to your device or create a new Google account for use with Google Play:

  1. Turn on your device and tap the Google Play Store app.
  2. If you haven't added an email account to your device, you'll be prompted to "Add a Google Account."
  3. Follow the instructions on the device, which will walk you through either signing into an existing Google account or creating a new Google account.

Once you have added your existing Google account or created a new account, you'll be able to use Google Play to download Android apps.

IELTS workshops

Would you like to know more about IELTS before taking the test? Our IELTS Workshops will provide you with a practical introduction to the test (Academic and General Modules) and will answer some of the most common questions. Log in to IELTS Workshops and know more

IELTS Practice tests

If you need to practice your writing and/or speaking before sitting the IELTS test, register now for an IELTS practice writing and/or speaking test and we'll help to evaluate your performance and advise on where you need to improve.

SSC membership

As an IELTS candidate you will be entitled for a one-month free membership upon registration for the exam. During which you can use all available resources on site only. If you wish to borrow resources or to extend your membership after the one-month then you have to apply for the paid membership which is at the cost of JOD 15.00 per year.

IELTS courses

Our Teaching Centre provides a full preparation courses for IELTS exam seven times a year. To attend the IELTS intermediate or upper intermediate courses, you have to sit for a placement test (a level test) and achieve level 13 or more out of our English language levels. The courses will cover the following:

  • The key skills and the sub-skills, needed to succeed in the IELTS exam.
  • Assignment and trial tests with feedback

The placement test fee:JOD 10.000 (Non Refundable)
The course fee:JOD 200.000
