CELTA is an initial qualification for people with little or no previous teaching experience or teachers with no formal training that opens up a whole world of exciting teaching opportunities. Because it is awarded by Cambridge ESOL, part of the world famous University of Cambridge, you can rely on its quality and recognition.
Personally, CELTA was beneficial for my career as an English teacher because it came at a time when I was starting to lose hope of changing my place of work, my career [and] my old teaching habits of 10 years. CELTA added a lot to my career and it was well worth it! As trainees, computers, printers, and the teachers’ room were open to us at any time. Also, the staff were more than wonderful. We could spend as much time as we wanted at the British Council; everyone helped and supported us and I felt I was at home all through my stay.
These are the dates for the up-coming CELTA Courses:
- 13th January– 7th February
- 11th August - 5th September
At the British Council, Rainbow Street, Amman
PLEASE NOTE THIS COURSE IS SUBJECT TO FINAL APPROVAL BY CAMBRIDGE

In addition, trainees have to complete four written assignments and observe British Council teachers on four occasions during the course. The course is very intensive and you should be prepared to spend a good deal of your free time reading, planning lessons and writing assignments.
