General English
English for all levels

These 32-hour courses cover everyday topics and language. You will develop your listening, reading, speaking, writing and grammar skills. Our qualified native-speaker trainers use a variety of media, including audio and videocassettes, supplementary materials and the multimedia computer training centre.

Universal topics selected from a wide variety of specially designed materials and authentic resources
In-depth treatment of grammar, with clear presentations, explanations and self-check exercises
Systematic treatment of vocabulary, including dictionary training and exercises
Pronunciation practice is an integrated part of the syllabus
Reading, writing, listening and speaking are developed in context
Mid and end-of-term counselling with your tutor to help you identify your strengths and weaknesses
A combination of subjective and objective evaluation systems
New students must sit for a placement test consisting of a written test and an interview

Levels

Level Details
Starter For beginners who have some knowledge of the English alphabet. By the end of the course students can ask and answer simple questions and can use simple sentences and understand some familiar words and phrases about themselves, their family and concrete situations
Elementary 1, 2, 3 & 4 For learners who can understand sentences about familiar topics and read short, simple texts. Learners can communicate in simple and routine tasks, manage simple social exchanges and write simple notes and messages
Pre-Intermediate 1, 2, 3 & 4 For learners who can communicate in familiar topics and texts which contain common vocabulary. Learners can join in discussions without preparation if the topic is familiar and write personal letters describing experiences and impressions
Intermediate 1, 2, 3 & 4 For learners who can understand the main points when listening to a native speaker if the topic is familiar and understand the main ideas in texts which contain high frequency or job-related vocabulary
Upper-Intermediate 1, 2, 3 & 4 For learners who can manage all of the above and can also understand lectures if the topic is familiar and understand the news on television reasonably well. Learners can read reports or articles, they will be able to write clear, detailed texts such as essays or reports on familiar topics and give reasons in support of an argument.

Who can study in the Teaching Centre?

Our Adult courses are available for anyone over the age of 18. We have facilities available for students with all different kinds of specific needs – for example, visually impaired, hearing impaired, physical disabilities or learning difficulties. Fees

Placement test: JOD 10.00 (non refundable)

Course fees for General English: JOD 210.00

Course fees for IELTS Preparation courses: JOD 220.00

Focus On Speaking Courses : JOD 220.00

Enrolment policy

We follow a ‘first-come first-served’ policy. Priority of enrolment will be given to students who register first. Please note that sitting for the placement test does not guarantee you a place. You will only be guaranteed a place on paying the full course fee.

Payment policy

  1. All payments should be made in full.
  2. We accept only cash, cheques and visa credit cards.
  3. All payments should be in Jordanian Dinar.
  4. If you are a sponsored candidate, you should bring a formal letter from your sponsoring body undertaking to pay the full fees.

Cancellation policy

  • Teaching Centre does not offer refunds to students under any circumstances unless it is because we have had to close a class.
  • A placement test is only valid for 6 months; if this period has expired a student will need to re-take the placement test.
  • We do not offer refunds to students who wish to drop out.
