British Council Film links UK films and filmmakers to international audiences, profiling innovation, diversity and excellence and seeking opportunities for creative exchange between UK and international film communities.

Recent activities

EU Film Festival (October 2012)

The British Council in cooperation with the European Union Commission Film Festival presented The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel film. The aim was to strengthen cultural ties and familiarise the Jordanian audience with United Kingdom film production.

Forward Motion Screening (May 2012)

In collaboration with Zakharef in Motion Dance Festival, the British Council screened Forward Motion Screen Dance films in May 2012 at Al-Hussein Cultural Centre.

Forward Motion workshop (July 2012)

The British Council, in collaboration with Zakharef in Motion Dance Festival and SAE, organised a workshop on screen dance in July 2012 at the SAE institute. The workshop was presented by Isabelle Rocamora and it introduced new filming methods for Jordanian filmmakers and choreographers on filming dance and motion in general. The participants worked under the supervision of Isabelle on producing their own films, which will be screened in the Zakharef in Motion Dance Festival in May 2013.

UK Film Week (February 2013)

The British Council, in collaboration with The Royal Film Commission and Rainbow Theatre, organised a UK Film Week in the period 18-21 March 2013. The UK Film Week presented four recent UK films based on novels:

  • Great Expectations
  • Wuthering Heights
  • Jane Eyre
  • My Week with Marilyn
