About this course

  • understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
  • communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
  • describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

On the Pre-intermediate course, and according to needs, you practise the following speaking skills and functions:

  • Exchanging personal information
  • Describing an experience
  • Talking about what is important
  • Explaining important occasions
  • Describing people
  • Planning and explaining plans
  • Interviewing someone
  • Explaining and describing locations
  • Making suggestions and discussing possibilities
  • Telling stories
  • Comparing ideas and opinions
  • Making and discussing suggestions
  • Stating preferences, explaining reasons and agreeing/disagreeing.
  • Describing something you like and giving reasons
  • Describing differences and checking information
