About these courses

When the learners have completed the course they will be able to:

  • understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation.
  • interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
  • produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.



Course outline

On the Advanced course, and according to needs, you practise the following speaking skills and functions:

  • Giving personal views and explaining plans and targets
  • Telling a story (and describing feelings)
  • Suggesting what to do in a difficult situation
  • Discussing options, explaining choices and doubts
  • Giving clear instructions
  • Comparing ideas, reaching consensus and presenting conclusions
  • Explaining the advantages and disadvantages of options
  • Presenting strong negative opinions
  • Accounting for and sustaining your views
  • Making statements and checking information
