About these courses
When the learners have completed the course they will be able to:
- understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation.
- interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
- produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
Course outline
On the Advanced course, and according to needs, you practise the following speaking skills and functions:
- Giving personal views and explaining plans and targets
- Telling a story (and describing feelings)
- Suggesting what to do in a difficult situation
- Discussing options, explaining choices and doubts
- Giving clear instructions
- Comparing ideas, reaching consensus and presenting conclusions
- Explaining the advantages and disadvantages of options
- Presenting strong negative opinions
- Accounting for and sustaining your views
- Making statements and checking information
