Students cannot join Academic Writing 2 without having completed Academic Writing 1.


About this courses

When the learners have completed the course they will be able to:

  • practised the skills and techniques necessary to maximise scores in all parts of the exam
  • focused on each area of the of the exam in detail, looking at exactly what the examiners expect
  • developed vocabulary, grammar and skills for all parts of the exam


Course Outline

On FCE 1 you will:

  • practice skimming, scanning and reading for detail
  • study text structure and coherence
  • learn how to write letters, reports and narratives
  • develop your knowledge of lexical items including phrasal verbs and collocations
  • practice listening for gist
  • practice understanding the attitudes of speakers
  • practice listening for detail
  • develop your social interaction skills
  • learn how to initiate in conversations
  • learn how to give opinions

On FCE 2 you will:

  • practise exam papers and receive full feedback on your performance
  • practise taking part in the speaking interview
  • continue to develop your language and skills
