- Jeff Streeter appointed Director, effective 8 October -

The British Council announces a new Director Japan as follows:

Newly appointed:
Director Japan, British Council (effective 8th October 2011)

Jeff Streeter
[Currently Director Operations, British Council (Ankara, Turkey)]

The current Director Japan, Jason James, will remain in post until 7th October 2011, when his four-year term of office expires.

Jeff Streeter
Born: Exeter, Devon, 20th July 1962
Married with two children


Education

1973 - 1980 Tiverton School, Devon
1981 - 1984 BA in English Language and Literature,
Hertford College, Oxford.
1984 - 1985 MA in literature, University of East Anglia

1985 - 1987 Teacher of English in Spain
1988 - 1990 Teacher and Senior Teacher,
British Council, Quito,  Ecuador
1990 - 1994 Assistant Director, then Director,
British Council, Guayaquil, Ecuador.
1994 - 1996 Teaching Centre Manager,
Kyoto & Deputy Director British Council, Western Japan
1997 - 2000 English Language Officer, then Deputy Director,
British Council, Mexico.
2001 - 2003 Assistant Director,
East Asia, British Council (based in London)
2003 - 2007 Director,
