Job: Hourly-paid Teacher of English in Tokyo

We are currently recruiting for some hourly-paid Teacher of English positions for our Tokyo office. These are not full-time positions.

Teacher of English

The British Council Teaching Centre is looking for qualified and highly experienced teachers who are living in the Tokyo area to join our large and dynamic team. To apply for this position, you will be an expert speaker of English with a first degree and a working visa. You hold the Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Certificate TEFL and have at least two years full-time post-qualification teaching experience in a wide range of courses and levels, including recent experience of teaching groups of adults. It is also desirable that you hold the Cambridge DELTA or Trinity Diploma. You may be required to teach on either Saturdays or Sundays and possibly during the week.

  • Start date: ASAP
  • Salary:
    4,400 yen/hour for teachers with a CELTA
    4,900 yen/hour for teachers with a DELTA

Interviews will be held in our Tokyo office and applicants are required to bring the following documents to the interview:

  • A copy of visa
  • A copy of both sides of Alien Registration Card
  • A copy of CELTA / DELTA or other teaching qualifications
  • A copy of university degree
