The advent of the industrial society together with the continuing growth of modern technology has led to an increase in sources generating electromagnetic radiation into the environment.   People are now beginning  to reflect on the possible dangers to their health and safety arising from exposure to high frequency emissions from telecommunications antennae, or from the frequent use of cellular telephones or other portable devices which have become a necessary feature of everyday life.
