The British Council of Rome is an open centre for Cambridge ESOL exams.

You can still register for the June session until 29 May, a late fee of 100€ will be applied (paper based only).

The number of candidates enrolling to take the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) certificate to enter university and for immigration and work purposes is increasing. It is Cambridge ESOL’s responsibility to apply scrupulous procedures in order to guarantee results reliability and candidates’ identity verification during all exams parts.

Starting from 1st November 2011, each CAE candidate will be photographed on the exam day. Candidates’ photographs and exams’ results can be made available to requesting organisations on a dedicated Cambridge website for Online Results Verification.

How can I register for an exam?

Fill in the following entry form (pdf) for adults, bring it to the British Council registration office and pay the exam fee. You can pay by cheque, debit card, credit card (visa and mastercard), credit card via phone or cash. For YL exams fill in the following form: entry form (pdf) for private candidates, entry form (pdf) for our students.

Terms and conditions

  • Enrolment fees are not transferrable to other sessions or other exams in the same session.
  • If a candidate is absent for part or all exam of the examination, no refund is granted. If a candidate is absent or withdraws on medical grounds, then a partial refund can be requested provided it is accompanied by a statement from a medical practitioner.
  • The British Council and the Examining Boards take all reasonable steps to provide continuity of service. We feel sure you will understand, however, that we cannot be held responsible for any interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control. If examinations or their results are disrupted, cancelled or delayed, every effort will be made to resume normal service as soon as possible. The British Council's liability will be limited to the refund of the registration fee or re-testing at a later date.
  • The Summary Regulations for Candidates 2012 contains a summary of the information needed to take a Cambridge ESOL exam. A copy of the Summary Regulations for Candidates 2012 will be sent to candidates with the exam’s timetable and it can also be requested from the British Council.
