The British Council of Rome is an open centre for Cambridge ESOL exams.

Teaching Centre opening times

Monday to Friday 9.00 - 19.30
Saturday 9.30 - 15.00



KET , PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, TKT, BEC, ILEC (summer session) PET CB (24 September) certificates can be collected by candidates at the Registration Office.

Enrolments for Winter session will be open from 15 to 26 September. After this period that is until 31 October a late fee of € 50 will be applied and f rom 1 November a late fee of € 100 will be applied (PET CB excluded).

Please note that the dates below only refer to the written exam.

Registrations for PET CB 30 January are open until 14 January.
Registrations for PET CB 29 April are open until 14 April.
Registrations for PET CB 9 July are aopen until 24 June.

Please note that from December 2008 the Listening paper for FCE and CAE will be taken on the same day as the Reading, Writing and Use of English. For further information regarding the changes to the above papers please refer to www.cambridgeesol.org/exams/general-english/fce.html

Below are dates for speaking tests for the winter session:

FCE - CAE - CPE from 20 November to 20 December
KET - PET from 13 to 23 November
ILEC - ICFE from 6 to 16 November
BEC Vantage from 13 November to 7 December
BEC Preliminary from 13 to 30 November
BEC Higher from 13 to 23 November

How can I register for an exam?

Fill in the following entry form (pdf file), bring it to the British Council registration office and pay the exam fee. You can pay by cheque, debit card, credit card (visa and mastercard), credit card via phone or cash.
For YL exams only fill in this entry form. (pdf file)

Refund policy

  • Enrolment fees are not transferrable to other sessions or other exams in the same session.
  • If a candidate is absent for part or all exam of the examination, no refund is granted. If a candidate is absent or withdraws on medical grounds, then a partial refund can be requested provided it is accompanied by a statement from a medical practitioner.
  • The British Council and the Examining Boards take all reasonable steps to provide continuity of service. We feel sure you will understand, however, that we cannot be held responsible for any interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control. If examinations or their results are disrupted, cancelled or delayed, every effort will be made to resume normal service as soon as possible. The British Council's liability will be limited to the refund of the registration fee or re-testing at a later date.
