This course is for both practising lawyers as well as law students. It helps language learners use English in a commercial law environment, by developing the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. The course focuses on a variety of legal arguments including contracts, company formation, debtor-creditor relationships and intellectual property rights.
Our legal English course aim to help students do the following:
- Use the correct legal terminology in context
- Expand your vocabulary of business law
- Understand contracts written in English
- Write business letters using the appropriate formal language
- Pass an international legal English exam
This course leads to the University of Cambridge ESOL legal English exam: ILEC (International Legal English Certificate). However, it is not only an exam preparation course and would be suitable also for students interested in legal English without wanting to do the exam. Students attending this course would be able to take the ILEC exam in February 2013.
This course (and also the ILEC exam) is for students at Council of Europe B2 and C1 level. (Levels 5 – 7 of the British Council.)
