Thursday 11th  December at 3.30pm*  “Ballate popolari europee”   This talk  will demonstrate that ballads form part of a vast European project and are the result of a cultural evolution.

Saturday 13th December at 5.30pm*  “Un Inglese nel Giardino d’Europa: J M W Turner e l’Italia”   Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851), figlio di un barbiere, genio precoce della Royal Academy di Londra, anelava come schiere di artisti e viaggiatori britannici, a conoscere l’arte italiana essenziale alla formazione artistica dei romantici inglesi.

Thursday 18th December at 3.30pm*  Games and the English classroom”   For young children, playing is a central way of learning.  This session will argue that this is not only true for children but for all learners.  Games are neither a break from learning, nor a reward after a difficult lesson but a vital way of teaching and practising language.
