ROBERT FRIPP
SOUNDSCAPES

Continually pushing the barriers of musical experimentation, Robert Fripp founded the art rock group King Crimson in 1969. After the band broke up in 1974, Fripp and Brian Eno began to experiment together, creating electronic loops based on improvised solos.
A gifted musician and a virtuoso on the mellotron (an electronic keyboard instrument capable of reproducing the sound of almost every other instrument with incredible fidelity), his creations have successfully blended pop, spoken word and ambient music.
Fripp has collaborated with other top musicians such as David Bowie, David Sylvian and the Orb, and each of his works has always had a great impact on the musical elite. In his own words: "the compositions in Soundscapes are based on delay, repetition and chance, they are totally improvised, and...they still are the best way I know to make a lot of noise with only one guitar." The concert is part of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia's "It's Wonderful" concerts, held at the Sala Santa Cecilia at the Auditorium.
