NEW CONNECTIONS ON FLICKR
New Connections in theatre

We work across all forms of drama - from live art and physical/visual theatre to classic and text-based drama.
We work with our overseas network of arts managers and partners to plan, resource, deliver and evaluate high-impact arts projects involving professional artists and organisations from the UK. We aim to promote new images of the UK, to establish long-term partnerships abroad and to attract younger audiences.

IN PROGRESS:

CREATIVE CONVERSATIONS (IN THEATRE)

Wednesday, 20th March, Teatro Franco Parenti, Milan
h. 9:00pm (doors open at 8:30pm) - FREE ENTRY
Creative Conversations (in Theatre) is the first of a series of conversations which will take place throughout 2013. Entitled “The playwright in the spotlight” it will explore questions such as: what is the role of the writer in theatre today? Why write for the theatre rather than for television or film? What role does theatre play in contemporary society?
The acclaimed British writer Hanif Kureishi is guest of honour, and he will be in conversation with two young British playwrights: Arinze Kene and Evan Placey. Writer and translator Luca Scarlini and playwright Renato Gabrielli will be their Italian interlocutors with Maggie Rose, playwright and professor of the history of English Theatre at the University of Milan, acting as moderator. Creative Conversations (in Theatre) creates a synegy with two other theatre projects supported by the British Council: Intercultural Dialogues and Short Latitudes.
