Turin, 26 Oct 2012: Alison Driver, Arts Manager, presents Sergio Ricciardone, President of Club To Club with our New Connections Award.

NEW CONNECTIONS IN MUSIC

We work with leading arts organisations in Italy to create exciting events which showcase the talents of emerging artists.

Concerts, talks, workshops and learning opportunities are some of the kinds of activities which we create.

Below are some of our events in Italy in 2012.

Maestro Enrico Bettinello, Director of the Teatro Fondamenta Nuove of Venice, was at the Huddersfield Festival (16-25 November) and the London Jazz Festival (9-18 November) as part of the British Council delegation.

We were delighted to collaborate with Club To Club festival for a second year running, a partner who shares our values of innovation, creativity and excellence. Links with the UK have been made even stronger with a Club To Club preview in London on the 18th October, which brought top Italian talent to the UK.

For their work in creating a UK showcase within their festival, their interest in seeking out and supporting emerging talents and the close attention they pay to the UK music scene in general, we are thrilled to present them with a New Connections Recognition Award. This award is offered to those artists and organisations who help foster closer cultural ties between the UK and Italy. It’s our way of saying “Grazie, Club To Club”!

Emufest the International Festival for Electroacustic Music, organised by Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia, took place from 7th to 17th October. The festival saw, amongst the others, Denis Smalley, on 14th of October. Denis is Professor Emeritus at City University London and is a composer specialising in electroacoustic music. He participated in a debate and in a concert on the same evening.
