Born in Bekesbourne, near Canterbury, on 30 September 1905, Powell served his apprenticeship with arch stylists Rex Ingram and Harry Latchman before graduating, via still photography on Hitchcock's Champagne (1928) and Blackmail (1929), he then carried into the sound era a strong sense of visual storytelling. To mark the 100th anniversary of Powell's birth Emanuela Martini, film critic, will talk about this great film director. Date: 17 October 2005
