Prof. Brian Gibbons,  will give the annual British Council Shakespeare Lecture in honour of Giorgio Melchiori, Italy's leading translator and interpreter of Shakespeare. The subject this year is "Romeo and Juliet" Prof. Gibson is General Editor of the New Cambridge Shakespeare and the New Mermaids.

The Lecture is dedicated to the memory of Prof. Agostino Lombardo.
