MALCOLM MCKAY
IL TEMPIO DEL POPOLO

In the summer of 1977, the People's Temple Sect, led by Pastor Jim Jones, left Northern California for the South American Jungle. Jones had promised them a paradise in Guyana. On November 18th, 1978, after an unofficial visit by a US Congressman, Jones told them that the CIA were about to destroy their new world. The sect members murdered 276 children by injecting them with cyanide. Some adults were shot by guards as they tried to escape. The new piece of writing by Malcolm McKay, which he also directs, is based around this true story. The play will be presented for the first time in Italian at the Quartieri dell'Arte Festival, in cooperation with CSC  and Royal Exchange Theatre di Manchester
