Founded in 1984, Forced Entertainment is an ensemble of six artists led by director and writer Tim Etchells. The group’s work spans theatre, durational performance, live art, gallery installation, video and digital media.
In 12 am: Awake & Looking Down, five silent performers endlessly reinvent their identities using stacks of cardboard signs with which they name themselves and a store of jumble-sale clothing (coats, dresses, suits, anoraks, trousers, pajamas) from which they dress and re-dress. The piece lasts 6 hours and—as in other durational works by the company—the public are free to arrive, depart and return at any point.
Quizoola! is a durational performance based on a text of 2000 questions by Tim Etchells. Performed by a team of three actors in smeared clown makeup, Quizoola! is about the need for knowledge, certainty and definition through language.
The performances are part of the Santarcangelo Festival, which will be held from 2nd to 11th of July.
