The International Rome Film Festival 2011 saw its Focus section dedicated to the UK. Focus UK consisted of a series of exciting events starting with an exhibition by the artist Douglas Gordon, which opened Wednesday 26 October. The other events were a Showcase of 7 new UK films, a film retrospective curated by Jonathan Romney entitled Punks and Patriots, which consisted of 12 cult films chosen by UK artists Terence Davies, Tilda Swinton, Michael Nyman, Hanif Kureishi, Joanna Hoeg and David Hare.
