Stefania

As part of a training course run by the British Council for Rome Informagiovani staff, Stefania Vecchio was offered the opportunity of experiencing at first hand what doing an English course at a British Council recognised language school (the London School) is like. This is her account of her experience.

And so I found myself in London doing an English course. Well, it was much more than that actually – more of a life changing experience…

Host families are chosen by the school and I can testify to the fact that they are well chosen.

I found my hosts to be warm, welcoming, always there when I needed them and happy to talk. Not to mention that my hostess was an excellent cook! Curiosity and the desire to get to know others are fundamental to improving your English, above all when you find that the other guests are by design of a different nationality.

What I liked immediately about the school was its interactive methodology … all activities – whether exercises, discussions, talking about yourself or playing games - take place in small groups of people of every nationality, age and walk of life. And so you have the opportunity to learn, reinforce and improve your English while communicating, exploring and getting to know others and yourself.

And then, once the lessons and the homework are over ...there is always an exciting city awaiting you, with its free museums stuffed with riches, parks that you shouldn’t miss if there’s even one ray of sunshine, famous shops, ethnic restaurants, pubs, theatres, musicals …in short something for every taste.

I can recommend it for everyone!
