International Spoken ESOL

A reliable and user friendly test of real speaking ability in English, offered at six levels: Preliminary, Access, Achiever, Communicator, Expert and Mastery . Testing is by one to one structured interview with a member of the centre staff (who plays role of an Interlocutor) and who knows the candidate and so can help them feel at ease. This staff member – the Interlocutor – doesn’t rate the candidate's performance, they just manage the interview and act as a conversation partner. We provide clear instructions and a comprehensive training pack to help interlocutors. The test is recorded on audio cassette or CD and sent to City & Guilds where it is marked by trained examiners. Young SESOL are ESOL qualifications designed for candidates aged 8–13. There are two levels: basic and elementary.
