Each research group nominates a young researcher who will take on the role of project coordinator, responsible for making a proposal and for all future correspondence with either the British Council or CRUI regarding the project. Proposals must be made using the appropriate form, available for download:

Selection criteria:
Proposals are assessed and selected by British and Italian experts appointed by the British Council and CRUI. A joint Selection Committee will meet during October 2008 UK coordinators will be informed of the results by 31 December 2008 by the British Council.
Proposals are assessed according to the following criteria:
- appropriateness and quality of research and its relevance to the subject area chosen
- opportunities for young researchers
- complementarity and/or transfer of expertise by exchange of visits
- experience and track record of research groups
- potential project outcome
- demonstration of subsequent funding (eg EU or industry)
- the description of the project must be comprehensible to the scientifically literate but non-specialist reader.
Funding:
A maximum grant of £3,000 will be awarded to both the British and Italian teams: a total of £6,000 per project.
