
Each research group nominates a young researcher who will take on the role of project coordinator, responsible for making a proposal and for all future correspondence with either the British Council or CRUI regarding the project. Proposals must be made using the appropriate form, available for download:

Selection criteria:
Proposals are assessed and selected by British and Italian experts appointed by the British Council and CRUI. A joint Selection Committee will meet during November 2009. UK coordinators will be informed of the results by 31 December 2009 by the British Council.
The selection criteria are the following:
- Intrinsic merit of the project (the extent to which the project is at the forefront of international endeavour in the field) - Aims and Objectives (the extent to which the aims and objectives of the research programme are achievable) - Methodology (the validity and likely effectiveness of the methodology proposed) - Outputs/deliverables (the quality and potential of the stated deliverables: publications, prototypes etc.) - Expertise, facilities and track record of research groups - Value added by collaboration (potential for research enhancement, complementary research and/or transfer of expertise) - Potential project outcomes (prospects for subsequent funding and continued collaboration and deliverables) - Opportunities for early career researchers
Funding: A maximum grant of £3,000 will be awarded to both the British and Italian teams: a total of £6,000 per project.
