IELTS 45-HOUR PREPARATION COURSE
This is a preparation course for the Academic Module of the IELTS exam

The new programme for the academic year 2011-2012 will be available from 5 May 2011.

Registrations for our  20 hour IELTS preparation course are now open.

This IELTS 45 hour Preparation Course is run as part of our regular programme of courses for adults and starts in September and January each year. The course is held on Saturday afternoons over a 15 week period. It includes extensive preparation and practice for all 4 papers of the academic module of the IELTS exam together with language skills work to help improve your level of English.

This course is suitable for people who are planning to study abroad in English or need IELTS to get recognition of their professional qualifications in order to work abroad

Description of the course

This course develops both language skills and exam techniques for the IELTS exam and helps you prepare effectively for the exam by using authentic exam papers.  The course develops all 4 skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing in the context of the requirements of the academic module of IELTS.

On this course, as on the 20 hour IELTS preparation course, you will be given homework and receive individualised feedback on your writing and speaking skills.

Aims of the course

to prepare for the Academic version of the IELTS test
to familiarise you with the specific format of the examination and the types of material used and questions asked
to develop strategies and skills for dealing with reading comprehension, writing descriptions of data and essays, listening comprehension, and speaking
to give systematic practice in the techniques required for the four test components
to develop your general competence in English in all four skills

Dates and Times

Our IELTS 45 hour preparation course is for one semester only, 45 hours over 15 Saturday afternoons (14.30 - 17.30), excluding school or national holidays, starting in September and January each year .

Course Cost 2011/12

850€ payable in one or two instalments :- 620€ at registration and 220€  in November 2011. Payment is by cheque made out to the British Council, or by cash (please bring the exact amount). Please note that we are not able to take payments by bank card.

Registration

The new programme for the academic year 2011-2012 will be available from 5 May 2011

We offer this course to students at Upper Intermediate (B2) level and above to prepare for the academic module of the IELTS exam. The course is intended for adults, but we will accept registrations from students with a minimum age of 17. Parents or guardians of students under 18 must sign the registration form and provide a letter of permission.

If you have a British Council Paris level certificate no more than one year old, a Cambridge exams certificate eg: FCE, CAE, CPE, an IELTS test result of 5 or above, no more than 2 years old, you do not need a placement test. You can register directly at the reception desk of the Teaching Centre on the 4th floor of the British Council during the Teaching Centre opening hours.

If you do not have a level certificate referenced to the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR), you will need to take a placement test before you register. There is no charge for this test.
