BULATS FOR COMPANIES, ORGANISATIONS and LANGUAGE CENTRES
Hold the BULATS test in your premises

Carefully designed for companies and language centres, the BULATS test helps you to assess the language skills which are needed for the workplace. It can be used in a wide range of situations for staff, trainees or job applicants: e.g. in a recruitment process, for placement in a training programme or testifying progress at the end of it, or in decisions regarding promotion. BULATS can also be a requirement in obtaining a degree: e.g. the ‘Commission des Titres d’Ingénieurs’ is advising its students to take BULATS in order to get the level of English required for the achievement of their degree in engineering.

Because it is user-friendly, BULATS makes it easy to get a clear and reliable assessment of the listening, reading and language knowledge skills of your employees in a foreign language.

THE BENEFITS:

Questions related to the world of work

4 languages available: you can choose to test the level of English, but also the level of German, Spanish or French

THE TYPES OF BULATS TEST:

COMPUTER-BASED ONLINE or CD ROM TEST
The computer-based online or CD Rom tests are exactly the same: they both use 'adaptive' testing techniques to pinpoint language abilities quickly and accurately, from a beginner level to an upper-advanced level. As the candidate progresses through the test, the computer selects the next question on the basis of the previous answers, becoming progressively easier or more difficult until a consistent and accurate level of language is determined.

The length of the test varies from one candidate to another depending on the number of questions selected by the computer programme, but it never lasts more than 85 minutes.
Suitable for small groups or one by one, you can have your employees/students sit the test in your premises.
Dates and schedules are flexible. You can organise the test whenever it suits you.
Results are calculated and generated by the computer programme and available immediately once the test is completed. They appear on the screen of the candidate’s computer. They can be printed, saved and viewed at any time through the administrator portal.

ONLINE: The computer-based online test does not require the installation of any software. You only need to have access to a PC equipped with a sound card and an Internet connection with Internet Explorer.

ON CD-ROM:
(For those who do not wish to use the online test for specific reasons)
The computer-based CD-ROM test consists of a dongle containing the test data, counts and licences. It can either be installed on standalone workstations or on a network.

PAPER-BASED TEST

The paper-based test is made up of questions booklets, answer sheets and a CD for the Listening skill. Once your order is placed, we assign a specific version of the test to you. We need to receive your order at least three weeks before the test date in order for us to prepare and send all the papers on time by express mail.

It lasts 110 minutes: 50 minutes for listening and 60 minutes for reading and language knowledge. (The paper-based test lasts longer than the computer-based one because it is not adaptive and so it needs to evaluate all levels from beginner to upper-advanced)
Suitable for schools, it allows you to arrange for a large number of candidates to take the test at the same time in your premises without having to use any computer facilities.
Dates of the test sessions have to be scheduled in advance (at least 3 weeks).
Results are delivered approximately 2 weeks after you send back the exam papers.

RESULTS:

Whatever way the BULATS test is taken, the Test Report Forms indicating the candidate's score are identical and use the same scale. They feature the candidate’s name, the name of the company/organisation if required, the test date, and the result:

- The overall results are given as a level (based on the CEFR system from A1 to C2), as well as a global score on a scale of  0 – 100.

If the test has taken place under Cambridge exams conditions, the Test Report Form can be printed by the supervisor onto official BULATS report form paper. On the reverse of this report is a summary of the 'Can Do' statements.
