Stephen Hawking Event
Past Science Events

Our events are accessible to both professional and non-specialist audiences. Through public talks, debates and workshops we explore the impact of science on our lives Our goal is to foster a science 'culture' and we encourage active interaction and dialogue between scientists and general audiences. Many of our projects aim to encourage young people to consider science careers.

Here is a selection of past events which have enthused and engaged audiences

Arc Theatre
A science theatre workshop on climate change provided a unique opportunity for a group of scientists, actors, directors, playwrights, science teachers and science students to learn from the UK ARC Forum Theatre experience. Using drama as a tool for dialogue to convey scientific concepts and ideas, forum theatre is an exciting and interactive theatre aimed to inspire, stimulate and engage audiences in genuine scientific discussions and debates. The workshop was organised in partnership with the Hemda Science Education Centre in Tel Aviv and the Bloomfield Science Museum Jerusalem and took place at Hemda 8 – 9 March 2006

Stephen Hawking
To mark the occasion of Stephen Hawking's visit to israel, British Council Israel organised a Young Scientists event with the enthusiastic cooperation of the Bloomfield Science Museum Jerusalem and the British Embassy in Tel Aviv. Students aged 16-18, studying physics, maths, astronomy and astrophysics were invited to meet Professor Hawking and hear about his life and what motivated him to pursue a career in science.
