Science Events

We promote the creativity and innovation of UK science through public events such as Cafe Scientifiques, science communication projects, exhibitions, seminars and workshops, educational activities, lectures and debates.

We aim to stimulate debate about the impact of science on people's lifes and our public events are designed to encourage scientists to communicate with the wider public in an inspired and interactive way and for people to get involved and to talk about science.

Cafe Scientifique
Café Scientifique provides a unique forum for the discussion of topical and thought provoking scientific issues. Audiences are invited to actively participate in a friendly, informal and relaxing environment.
Debates
The debates are intercultural dialogues exploring the nature of contemporary science and its significance for our lives. Panels are comoposed of UK and Israeli experts and a debate last between 90 minutes and 120 minutes. Audience members are encouraged to submit questions and are asked to vote twice, at the beginning and at the end of the debate.
FameLab
FameLab is an international science communication competition designed to identify new talent in science communication. Contestants have just 3 minutes to impress judges and audiences with an entertaining and original talk that is scientifically accurate but also engaging to a non-scientific audience.
Exhibitions
Our exhibitions highlight the achievements of recent and past UK scientific and technological advances. DNA50 celebrates the 50th anniversary of Crick and Watson's work on the structure of DNA and Exploring the Solar System raises awareness about the five key missions to the planets 2003-5 and the UK's involvement.
