British Academy Visiting Fellowships are open to early-career scholars from overseas to apply directly to the Academy, in conjunction with their UK hosts, for research visits to the UK of at least two months. The main purpose of the visit should be to enable the visitor to pursue research in the humanities and social sciences. Funds have been earmarked for scholars from the Middle East, including Israel.

British Academy International Partnerships - The International Partnership and Mobility Scheme aims to support the development of partnerships between the UK and other areas of the world where research excellence would be strengthened by new, innovative initiatives and links. The Scheme is open to three-year and one-year partnerships and. the awards cover any branch of the humanities or social sciences. It is focused on collaborative research on a specific theme of mutual interest.

The Caspian Arts Foundation Scholarship

A scholarship worth £25,000 is available for a student who wishes to study on the following art courses at one of the six Colleges that make up University of the Arts London. The scholarship is funded by The Caspian Arts Foundation and will be awarded to students from the Middle East and North Africa who display an exceptional talent, and whose development as an artist would most benefit from postgraduate study at one of the University of the Arts London’s Colleges.

The Centre for Jewish-Christian Relations in Cambridge (CJCR) administers scholarships for the Master of Studies (MSt) degree in the study of Jewish-Christian Relations at the University of Cambridge.

The Clore Bezalel Scholarship is awarded biennially to a Bezalel graduate who wishes to follow an MA at the College.  You can find more information from the Royal College of Art or from Bezalel.

The Daniel Turnberg UK/Middle East Travel Fellowship Scheme Call for applications 2011-2012

The Academy of Medical Sciences is pleased to announce the launch of the 4th round of funding for the Daniel Turnberg Travel Fellowship Scheme, now open for applications. The scheme provides opportunities for biomedical researchers to travel between the UK and the Middle East. It offers applicants the chance to undertake short-term visits of up to four weeks to further their research experience and learn new techniques, with the aim of establishing research links and developing ongoing scientific collaborations.  

Applications should be made through the candidate’s Heads of Department who will act as sponsor for the applicant. The applicant should contact and obtain written support from the institution that they wish to visit prior to submitting their application.

The deadline for receipt of completed application forms is Friday 27 January 2012. Researchers from the following countries are eligible to apply:

Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, the Palestinian Territory and the UK

Durham IAS Fellowship Scheme

The Durham IAS is a prestigious, research-led Institute that aims to address problems and promote dialogue at the frontiers of knowledge.  At the core of its activities lies a generously funded UK and international fellowship programme.  This scheme allows the IAS to gather together the world's finest scholars and non-academics (e.g. intellectuals, artists, writers, journalists, policy makers, and politicians) from the full spectrum of science, social science, arts and humanities disciplines to address themes of global significance.

The application round for the 2013/14 fellowship scheme commences on 30 April 2012 and the closing date for applications is 17 June 2012. More details here

Graduate Scholarships at LSE are available for students from Israel starting a postgraduate programme at LSE in 2011. The deadline for applications is Wednesday 10 June 2011. Applicants are encouraged to apply online as early as possible for all LSE funding.

The Institute of Education (IOE), part of the University of London, is the UK’s number one university for education and related social sciences. The IOE’s prestigious Centenary Scholarships, worth £22,000 per year of study and covering tuition fees and living expenses, are now open for applications. These scholarships offer an opportunity for highly talented students of education to study a Masters or a Doctoral degree in one of the world’s most prestigious graduate schools of education. The closing date for applications is 10 April 2012 .

The International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and Political Violence (ICSR) - Atkins Fellowship offers young leaders from Israel and the Arab world the opportunity to come to develop their ideas on how to further peace and understanding in the Middle East in a neutral political environment . Atkins Fellows are based at the ICSR offices at King's College London.

Jewish Widows and Students Aid Trust Students must be Jewish, from the UK, France, or Israel, and under the age of 30. Grants are usual in the form of a loan, but with no specific basis for repayment. Apply to: Alan Philipp, Marlborough House, 29 Regents Park, Road, London , N3 2UU

LEO BAECK (LONDON) LODGE B’NAI B’RITH - the Lodge annually awards a limited number of scholarships to Jewish students wishing to undertake post-graduate or post-doctoral studies or research at universities or other approved professional/educational institutions in the UK.

London Metropolitan University

London Metropolitan University is pleased to announce the deadlines for its postgraduate scholarship programme for September 2012 intake. We offer a number of full scholarships for outstanding students, studying for any of our Masters degrees starting in September 2012.

Students need to first apply for, and be accepted for, any of our taught Masters degree courses, and after they have been accepted they can apply for the full scholarship here

Lord Zuckerman Studentships: Doctor of Philosophy. - the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia (Norwich) welcomes applications from candidates in Israel and Eastern Europe for the Lord Zuckerman Studentship. Successful applicants will be registered for the degree of PhD. There are two Lord Zuckerman studentships. In the first instance these will be awarded in alternate years. One studentship is available for a candidate from Israel and in awarding the other preference will be given to a candidate from Eastern Europe. Please contact the School of Environmental Sciences for further details.

The Newton International Fellowships run by The British Academy, The Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society is a global scheme, open to researchers from any country to undertake postdoctoral research in the UK. The two-year Fellowships cover the broad range of the natural and social sciences, engineering and the humanities.

The Olive Tree Scholarship Programme is run by City University London. Under the Programme the university awards a limited number of undergraduate scholarships (up to 12 at a time) to exceptional Israeli and Palestinian applicants, for study at City University. The award of a scholarship enables those selected to:

spend three years working on their chosen undergraduate degree course
participate in regular extra-curricula activities and retreats designed to facilitate dialogue and understanding across the conflict divide
acquire skills and knowledge relevant to conflict mediation, community work, protection of human rights and communication across cultures

The selection board will be looking for candidates who are highly motivated, eager to learn and able to demonstrate leadership potential. Applicants must be between 20 and 27 years of age and will need to have personal maturity and a commitment to achieving the goals of the Programme.

Polonsky Foundation Scholarship

A fully-funded research scholarship for 2012-13

We are delighted to be able to offer one Polonsky Centenary Scholarship to an outstanding MPhil/PhD candidate from the United States or Israel.

This prestigious scholarship, which covers tuition fees and living expenses, is awarded on the basis of academic merit. Subject to satisfactory academic progress, the successful Scholar will be funded to complete a full-time doctorate at the IOE.  We welcome applications from prospective research students who are citizens of the United States or Israel wishing to undertake the MPhil/PhD at the IOE.  The deadline is 23 April 2012

University of Reading - Scholarships for LLM European Union Law
Scholarships of up to €24,000 are available for students undertaking the LLM European Union Law at the University of Reading. Scholarships are designed to cover tuition fees, living allowance and travel costs, establishment and relocation expenses. The scholarship is open to Israeli national resident in Israel.

The Rothschild Foundation foundation offers the following award:

Rothschild Fellowships are one year awards for advanced study or research abroad for postdoctoral candidates. Both humanities and scientific subjects are considered. Awards cover airfares, tuition fees, living expenses and an allowance for family members. Candidates who are already studying abroad, are not eligible for these fellowships. In exceptional cases a fellowship might be granted to a doctoral candidate who could benefit from a year of research abroad.

Applications are submitted through the Israeli University to which you are affiliated. Please contact the Academic Secretariat of your university for application forms and for further details, particularly the application deadline, which is set by each individual university.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation Fellowship Programme offers fully funded Fellowships to well established mid-career journalists from throughout the world. Applicants must have a minimum of five years experience in any branch of journalism and demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English to be able to participate fully in the life of the Programme and write a research paper in English of publishable quality. The deadline for receipt of applications for the Fellowship Programme 2012-13 is 12.00 noon,  31st January

The Weidenfeld Scholarship and Leadership Programme run by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD), in cooperation with the Chevening Scholarship scheme, will offer 5 scholarships at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, starting in the academic year 2012-13. Candidates must apply through the official University of Oxford application process by 20 January 2012.

Wolfson College Press Fellowship, University of Cambridge brings talented journalists in mid-career to Cambridge for a period of between 10 and 13 weeks to research a project of their own choosing under academic supervision. The scholarship is open to journalists in any medium and from any country who are in mid-career, typically between the ages of 28 and 45.
