Many UK universities offer degrees by distance learning and students sit their exams at their local British Council. You can search for studies by distance learning on Education UK. The following are large scale distance learning providers with a significant number of Israeli students:
The University of London external programme is the oldest distance learning programme in the world. There are over 100 courses available in many subjects. Application to studies is done directly through the university. Current students can contact us to receive an exam timetable and register for exams.
Herriot Watt University, based in Edinburgh, offers their MBA (taught and examined in Hebrew) through Ramat Gan College. Registration for the course is done directly to the college.
We have now opened our registration for the following admissions exams:
BMAT, CAT, ELAT, HAT, MAT, MLAT, OLAT, PAT, STEP
Registration will be open from today 3rd of Sept through to the 1st of October.
Late registration will continue till the 15th of October with late entry fees that will be charged accordingly.
The fee for all the admissions exams is 900NIS that can be paid in one payment by credit card
Late entry fee is an additional 250NIS.

Students applying to study in the UK are required to take the IELTS. Some universities require applicants to sit an admissions test. You can find a list of tests on the UCAS website . The following admissions tests can be taken with us.
- the Bio Medical Admissions Test is a two hour subject specific admissions test taken by medicine or veterinary medicine applicants.
The BMAT is a pen and paper test consisting of three sections: Section 1: Aptitude & Skills – 60 minutes (multiple choice) Section 2: Scientific Knowledge and Applications – 30 minutes (multiple choice) Section 3: Writing Task- 30 minutes (Essay question)
TSA - Thinking Skills Assessment, formerly known as PPE (Philosophy , Politics & Economics or Economics & Management) help tutors to assess whether candidates have the skills and aptitudes that are required to study PPE or E&M.
The exam contains two components: Section 1- Multiple choice component – problem solving and critical thinking skills – 90 Minutes Section 2- writing task – 30 minutes
ELAT- English Literature Admissions Test is designed to enable applicants to show their ability in the key skill of close reading paying attention to such elements as language imagery, allusion, syntax form and structure of the passage set for comment. It assesses how far students have developed this understanding and with it the ability to shape and articulate an informed response to unfamiliar literary material.
The ELAT is a one section 90 Minute essay comparing two or three items of prose or poetry.
The exams take place in the first week of November
Other entrance exams may be required, make sure you check carefully on the websites of the institutions you are applying to. Contact the institutions directly if any other exams are part of their requirements.
The UK is a large provider of career and professional qualifications which are recognised world-wide.
The qualifications offered by City and Guilds are recognised by employers worldwide and cover include cover many professions and skills.
The ACCA qualification enables you to become an internationally recognised certified chartered accountant.
CIM offers internationally respected training, qualification and resources for marketing and business development, helping individuals and businesses.
CIMA is a membership body that offers a globally recognised professional management accounting qualification. Their qualifications have an emphasis on accounting for business. Contact information for Israeli candidates is available here

Doctors, dentists, lawyers and other professionals who qualified outside the UK, but intend to work or specialise in Britain, are required to register with the relevant professional organisations. Registration usually involves being examined on your professional knowledge. You must check on the websites of the relevant professional body to find out where you can sit your exam. You will also need to take the IELTS. You need to find out from the UK which grade you need to achieve in which exam (general or academic).
Doctors register with the General Medical Council. The National Advice Centre for Postgraduate Medical Education (NACPME) provides helpful information to overseas-qualified doctors intending to train and study in the UK.
Dentists register with the General Dental Council
Lawyers register with the Law Society of England and Wales or the Law Society of Scotland
