English Teacher and Schools Programme Coordinator

The British Council has established a position as the preferred partner for the training of English language teachers in Israel as well as a reputation for offering high quality English language products and services to learners.

The British Council Israel is scaling up the impact of our English work; increasing our digital offer of programmes for teachers and learners, initiating partner funded programmes in peripheral locations and reaching nationwide audiences of teachers and learners with our growing team of teachers and teacher trainers.  This is supported by a growing range of English language resources from our global network. By 2015, we aim to work with all teachers of English and thousands of learners in Israel with a clear focus on those that live in the periphery.

Our work with learners of English aims to:

- improve employment and education prospects for learners

- encourage learners to participation in social media networks and  engage with online communities

- enhance learners’ understanding of contemporary UK

- give learners access to the best in UK ELT expertise

The ELT Teacher and Schools Programme Coordinator position is for a period of 2 years.  With expectations from partners of high quality professional work and ambitious audience targets, successful delivery requires a strong teaching background, excellent coordination and organisational skills and an ability to be flexible to meet our requirements.

Responsibilities will include:

•Leading on the British Council Schools programme

•Promoting our digital offer

•Designing, delivering and evaluating English language courses

•Contributing to the planning, reporting and evaluation of our ELT projects

•Ensuring effective communication with ELT team and whole Israel team

•Completing administrative tasks

•Actively engaging in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning, and maintain British Council’s position at the forefront of best ELT practices

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following essential criteria:

•2 years ELT teaching experience (following completion of teaching qualification)

•Experience teaching young learners, aged 10 – 17 and Adults (general English)

•Competence in Learning Technologies and Social Media

•Excellent organisational skills

•Native level English

Temporary English Learning Consultant

The English Learning Consultant will be on maternity leave for 6 months to a year and the successful candidate will lead on our ELT projects for learners during this time. With expectations from partners of high quality professional work and ambitious audience targets, successful delivery requires strong project and event management and communications support that can be flexibly configured to meet our requirements.

Responsibilities will include:

•To support the British Council Israel’s English strategy in the delivery of our programmes for learners

•To give English learners in Israel access to the best in British Council and UK resources

•To design, manage and deliver British Council ELT projects for learners for better learning of English in Israel

•To deliver teacher training and teaching to learners and teachers of English

•To support the wider aims of British Council and its cultural relations mission

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following essential criteria in their application:

•5 years teaching experience

•Teacher Training experience

•Extensive knowledge of Learning Technologies and Social Media

•Project coordination experience

•Excellent organisational skills

•Native level English
