The Clore English Learning Centres Project
The Clore English Language Learning Centres project addresses the difficulty faced by Israeli high school pupils in disadvantaged neighbourhoods preparing for their final English exams.  Funded by the Clore Foundation, ten cutting edge English language centres have been built in high schools in Safed, Kseifa, Kiryat Shmona, Kfar Hassidim, Bat Yam, Acre, Netanya, Kriyat Yam, Beer Sheva and Kiryat Gat. With our partners from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, British Council trainers are in the third year of teacher training in each of the schools to give teachers the tools to teach in their new learning centres.

Premier Skills workshops
Premier Skills is an English teaching resource for learning about language and culture launched in Israel in 2009.  The British Council is offering free teacher training workshops throughout Israel in which teachers will receive a Premier skills kit alongside training in how to use the resources in their classes.

In this inspiring project, the British Council has teamed up with the English Barclay’s Premier League to produce an inspirational set of material in which international footballers provide a fascinating insight into their views on language, learning and living in a different culture.

The Premier Skills materials are designed so that while watching interviews with famous footballers, students will learn and improve their English through fun and interactive activities.  If you would like to organise a British Council Premier Skills workshop in your area contact your local English inspector.

Learning technology course
Learning technologies for the classroom is a course designed to give teachers the skills to use computer applications in their classrooms with confidence and effectiveness.  In this hands-on course, teachers will learn tools to search for resources on the web, evaluate websites, integrate the web into their teaching and use office applications in their teaching.  If you would like to take part in a Learning Technology course please contact your local English inspector.

Second Life
To introduce the British Council Island on Second Life to local teenagers, we are organising school visits to give learners and teachers a virtual tour of the island and show them how they can explore the possibilities of virtual learning in virtual UK. Contact us for further information.
