New Schools Programme 2012-2013: Leaders in Culture |
The British Council Israel is excited to launch this year's 'Schools Programme', themed "Leaders in Culture". The programme will take selected schools on a journey of discovery of British Culture idols and events, highlighting the United Kingdom's entertainment industry, its stars and the London Olympics 2012. The activites will be geared toward upper elementary and junior high school students. Throughout the programme, students and teachers will experience the latest in educational technologies, including our websites (Learn English Kids,Learn English Teens, Learn English, Teaching English), and will have the opportunity to create a Wiki and incorporate video clips into their lessons. This year, the programme will include multiple visits to each school, providing both students and teachers with deeper learning experience. One class from each selected school will also participate in 'Talking Cultures', which provides the class with a partner group abroad and allows for cultural exchange through a digital platform. Applications for the programme are now closed.
An English course ‘Communicating in English for Civil Society Organisations’ designed especially for employees and activists of civil society organisations is currently underway. Courses are being offered in Tira and Be’er Sheva, and provide valuable networking opportunities while giving participants the confidence and skills to use English in their work. The topics are tailored to fit the needs of the students, but will include presentation, international advocacy, media outreach, social networking, etiquette and fundraising.
