Ariel Margalith, MSc , Global Media & Communications, LSE
Ariel Margalith is an established figure in the Israeli media, despite his young age. As a journalist he has reported widely on human rights issues within Israel, political and international affairs. He is dedicated to giving priority to stories of social and political importance that are largely ignored. Following his studies, he aspires to effect positive change in Israel and promote co-existence in the Middle East through the media and politics.

Yaniv Ofek, MPhil/PhD, International Politics/International Relations
Yaniv Ofek brings a background as an attorney to his academic research work on counter- terrorism. His main interest is how to maintain the delicate balance between public security and human rights. He also focuses on the connection/ relationship between the population and the terror organization which claims to represent it. He initiated the National Strength Research and Analysis group to help communities cope with terrorism. Following his studies, he intends to combine academic work with an advisory role to the government on counter-terrorism, while also promoting international cooperation between educational institutions to minimise the effects of terrorism worldwide.

Bruck Teshome, LLM International Human Rights Law Essex University
Bruck studied law at Addis Ababa University and subsequently worked for the Organisation for Social Justice in Ethiopia. He was one of the prime movers in a landmark Public Interest Law case which guaranteed the right to observe elections for local civil society organisations. He has also worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ethiopia dealing in Human Rights Affairs with the United Nations. Currently studying international law at the Hebrew University, Bruck ultimately intends to research legal reform and rebuilding following his studies in International Human Rights
Law at Essex University,

Goor Tsalalyachin, MA in Intelligence and International Security, King's College – War Studies
Equipped with an interdisciplinary background and experience gained in senior positions in both the media and government, Goor Tsalalyachin understands the complexity of relations between policy makers and intelligence agencies. Together with his experience as a media adviser to two ministers of defence, he has an intimate perspective on the decision-making process and the structural failures which may lead to tension in these relationships. A strong academic base in intelligence and international security will help Goor make a contribution to a better understanding of and improvement in the policy-making process and decision-making in the fields of defence and public policy.

Adam Zuabi, LLM Media Law, Copyright & Intellectual Property, SOAS
Adam Zuabi believes in the transformative power of film. His background as a lawyer led him to an interest in media law and he has worked in the Italian film industry, dealing with Italian cinema legislation. He then returned home to set up a film company which organised the first major international film festival in Ramallah in 2004. He subsequently established a film fund for the Mediterranean region and has produced several films. His ambition is to set up a regional film council aimed at funding films made by Arab Israelis and strengthening the voice of the Arab minority in Israel.

Noam Peleg, LLM Human Rights Law, UCL
Noam Peleg works at “Gisha – the Legal Center for Freedom of Movement “ and has experience in advocating against alleged human rights abuses by the Israeli government. He is particularly passionate about protecting children’s rights and has carried out much pro-bono work representing children, for the National Council for the Child. His studies will help him pioneer in the undeveloped field of children’s rights in Israel, combining academic work and legal practice to better children’s lives.

Chevening – Leonard Sainer Legal Education Foundation Award
Moran Harari, LLM Human Rights Law, UCL
Moran Harari brings a new focus to Human Rights work. As a lawyer and a taxation expert, she believes that social behaviours and norms can be shaped by local and international tax systems. Using tax and tax incentives, foreign investments, employment conditions and even population distribution can be affected. She intends to use further studies in this area to promote human rights through financial policy. She combines her work with community involvement - protecting the rights of foreign workers and providing pro-bono legal services for families of mentally challenged individuals

Chevening – Lord Goodman Scholarship
Ariella Grinberg, MSc Environmental Policy and Regulation
Ariella combines a background in legal and scientific studies in her work on environmental policy issues. She believes that environmental regulatory and policy tools are critically important in improving the environment and is already involved in environmental policy-making as a legal intern. She hopes to study current trends in environmental policy and management and adapt them to an Israeli context.

Natalie Rosen, LLM in Human Rights Law, University College, London
As a lawyer interested in human rights, Natalie works on high profile human rights cases, as well as serving as the legal co-ordinator on the Rule of Law project, set up by the human rights NGO “Yesh Din”. She also carries out research in the field of public international law, and is involved in volunteer work for the Workers’ Hotline, Kav LaOved. She intends to use her studies to deepen her knowledge of Human Rights law in order to produce a significant change in the field in Israel.

Marguerite (Margo) Sabella, MSc in Social Anthropology
Margo has an MA in journalism and currently works as a Communications Officer for World Vision. She previously worked for a Palestinian politician and civil society leader. She intends to study social anthropology in order to find out why things are as they are in Palestinian society and how they can be changed.  She is enthusiastic about engendering change both through her journalistic work and academic research.
