Chevening awards are offered by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) to Israeli nationals for postgraduate study in the UK for 3 to 12 months.  All fields of study are considered, but priority is given to subject areas related to politics and government, conflict prevention, economic and regional development, law and human rights, environment, media, business and economics, information technology and applied science.

Awards are not normally given for PhD studies.

The application deadline for 2009/2010 is 12 December 2008. No late applications will be considered.

Selection criteria

			Potential for making an impact on public life in Israel
			Potential to rise to senior and influential positions in the public or private sector, and who will be in a position to contribute to Israel’s social, economic and political future
			Outstanding ability in proposed field of study or research
			High level of proficiency in spoken and written English
			Applicants should be Israeli nationals currently living in Israel. If you have dual nationality, please state both.
			Preference is given to candidates between the ages of 25 and 40 who have a proven track record of success or excellence in their professional life, and who display intellectual ability and leadership potential
			Preference will be given to applicants who have never studied in the UK
			Preference is given to masters candidates

Interviews

Interviews for Chevening are likely to be scheduled in January and for Chevening partner scholarships February. Successful candidates must be in Israel for the interview.
