Working with us
If you work in law, governance or human rights, and are you looking for opportunities to advance your ideas and develop society, you could work with us. We work on projects and initiatives throughout the year in Ireland, to strengthen good governance and increase opportunities for disadvantaged groups in our region.

Could we work with you?

Our activity in Ireland aims to develop and explore the relationship between the state, the private sector and civil society. We seek to build partnerships and networks between organisations and individuals from the UK and Ireland, so that ideas can be shared and debated to our mutual benefit.

What kind of work do we do?

Themes of particular interest and relevance to the our work currently include:

Law and human rights
Social inclusion
Gender issues
Diversity and multiculturalism
Conflict and peace studies

Our current projects

Immigration: a global issue requiring local responses

Piaras McEinri, lecturer at University College Cork and advisor to the Immigrant Council of Ireland attended a Wilton Park Conference entitled “Immigration into Europe: How Should it be Managed?” with the support of the British Council.

European young Lawyers scheme

The European Young Lawyers' scheme (EYLS) was offered by the British Council Dublin for the first time last year. The scheme enables young practising lawyers to learn more about the British legal system by offering a placement in either the College of Law, London or at Edinburgh University for 6 months (January-July) incorporating a week long visit to Northern Ireland to study the system there. Apart from the courses offered in Scotland or England EYLS provides a great opportunity for young lawyers in Europe to network and all participants are encouraged keep in touch.
