Education is the focus of our re-engagement with Iraq, working in partnership with Iraqi institutions and individuals to reconnect Iraq with the international educational community and sharing the UK’s experience to help design Iraqi solutions to Iraq’s challenges.

About us
Our links with Iraq and its great tradition of culture, science and academic achievement go back a long way and have been very strong - we first opened in Iraq in 1940 - and we are delighted to be renewing them now.

TESOL Arabia is holding its next International conference in Dubai in March 2010.

This conference provides an excellent opportunity for teachers, trainers, students and English specialists to share current practice, research  and trends in the teaching of English.If you would like to attend this conference  either as  a participant or as a speaker, please go to http://tesolarabia.org/conference/proposals where you will find details.

Chevening Scholarships Orange lozenge left

Chevening 2010 – 2011 application is closed since 31st October 2009.

We are now in the short-listing process.

Chevening programme is managed by the British Council, on behalf of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Candidates are selected by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office only.

Competition for scholarships is very high and only applicants who meet the criteria will normally be considered. Only short-listed applicants will be contacted in December 2009.

Releasing Potential in Iraqi Schools Project

The Releasing Potential in Iraqi Schools Project has been developed in close consultation with the Ministries of Education in Baghdad and Erbil and is funded by UNICEF. It is intended to enhance the learning experience and outcomes for children in Iraqi schools.We are now accepting applications for the consultancy committees to provide support and expertise for the project on a part-time basis.To apply please send a covering letter with up-to-date CV. to the following address: Iraq@britishcouncil.org.
