Eight Iraqi English Language professionals will attend this year’s International Association for Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL) conference in Cardiff.

Four of the Iraqi delegates have been invited to speak in two groups on the subjects of ‘Teaching English in the programme of Iraqi Colleges of Education’ and ‘The Role of the new ELT Development Team in Iraq’.

Five English language teachers attended the conference last year as delegates and this year’s involvement of Iraqi speakers demonstrates the commitment and dedication to improving English teaching between Iraq and the UK.

The British Council have also been working closely with IATEFL to help Iraqi organisations take an active part in the association.  We are very pleased to announce that three Iraqi English teachers associations have been offered Associate Membership of IATEFL which will enable their members to join the global IATEFL network and communicate with English language teachers all over the world.
