Dorothy Hodgkin postgraduate awards

The Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Awards are open to top-quality science, engineering, medicine, social sciences and technology students. They are intended to bring outstanding students from India, China, Hong Kong, Russia and the developing world to the UK to study for PhDs in top-rated research environments.

The emphasis is on excellence of the research training environment and the student. Participating universities are under an obligation to ensure that the students they accept hold high-grade degrees from recognised universities. Funding and sponsorship

The first tranche of awards in October 2004 provided fully funded scholarships for approximately 130 students. It is intended to extend the scheme in following years. The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) administer the scheme, on behalf of the Office of Science and Technology. The pilot scheme is being co-funded by the following industrial and Research Council sponsors:
