The British Council is working with UK Royal Colleges and Faculties to develop innovative ways to support the re-engagement of Iraqi doctors with their UK counterparts.

From 5-9 December, the British Council Iraq is supporting a 5-day course 'New developments in common and important childhood diseases' for 26 Iraqi child health specialists.  The programme has been organised jointly by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in the UK and the Jordanian Paediatric Society (JPS). There will also be participants from Jordan and the West bank.’

In February, a group of 30 Iraqi obstetricians and gynaecologists and the President and senior representatives of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology were brought together at a Maternal Health meeting supported by the British Council. We also supported 3 Iraqi Gynaecologists on 2 months intensive training with the Royal College.

In March, HE Dr Abdullah Abbas, Iraqi Minister of Health and all of the UK Royal Colleges were invited to the British Council to discuss the Minister’s priorities and UK-Iraqi cooperation.
