Cambridge Hospitality Scheme
September 2008

Cambridge University, in partnership with British Council Iraq invites applications from Iraqi academics who wish to take part in the Cambridge Colleges Hospitality Scheme.

The programme offers a one-month (30 day) visit in one of the Cambridge colleges during the month of September 2008 and an opportunity for scholars to use Cambridge University’s libraries and facilities and to contact academic specialists in their subjects.

Academics should be of post-doctoral or equivalent status or above and will be university teachers or members of research institutes.

Applicants must have a good knowledge of spoken English.

All Interested applicants MUST provide English Language Proficiency test results i.e. (IELTS, TOEFL or any other internationally-recognised English Language Proficiency test).

WHO CAN APPLY?

Professors and Assistant professors with 12-25 years experience.
Lecturers and Assistant lecturers with 5-10 years of experience.

Applications which fulfil the criteria will be sent to Cambridge University for final selection which will be depending on the availability of UK academics who will volunteer as mentors for the Iraqi academics.

Cambridge will give priority to scholars who wish to rebuild links with the UK and to those working on a specific project such as a book or a new course or a series of lectures.

The cost of visas to the UK, economy return airfares from Iraq to UK via Amman, overnight accommodation in Amman, as well as small allowances for photocopying and books, in-country travel in the UK to other universities, and personal incidental expenses will be met by the British Council. All scholars also receive free single accommodation and meals, the cost of which will be covered under the Cambridge Hospitality Scheme.

Two white background photos, scanned copies.
Curriculum Vitae.
Two recent referee letters.
