Yoris Sebastian (b.1972) - IYCEY Music Award 2006 Consolidated Prize Winner

Even as a young student Yoris was entrepreneurial. He created the original Pangudi Luhur Pentas Seni, attracting commercial partners and sponsorship in support of the school’s cultural festivity. As journalist for youth magazine Hai he built his business network. At the Hard Rock Café he quickly became the chain’s second youngest General Manager through innovation such as “I Like Monday”. The programme help revived Indonesia’s live music scene, created new jobs and new businesses in the music industry, and made lots of money for the cafe. In 2006, Yoris became the first Indonesian to win the British Council International Young Music Entrepreneur of the Year. In March 2008, he used his consolidated prize money to invite UK’s Ben Drury share his digital music expertise with the industry biggest players in Jakarta and Bandung. Leaving the Hard Rock Café in 2007, he is currently a full-fledged entrepreneur focusing on his award-winning Goliath digital music project.
