How can I register for the test?

1. Get an IELTS Application Form
2. Complete and sign the form
3. Attach two (2) recent passport-sized colour photographs (4x6 cm) and the background must be in white or blue – PLEASE REFER TO “NOTICE TO CANDIDATE (APPLICATION FORM)” PAGE IV FOR MORE DETAILS.
4. Attach a photocopy of your KTP (National ID for Indonesian) or your passport (preferable)

How much do I need to pay for the test?

A test fee of GBP 120 will be charged, payable upon registration.  The fee should be paid in Rupiah and based on IDR rate for the opening month.

Should I take Academic or General Training module?

The Academic Module should be taken by those applying for tertiary, undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and for those seeking professional registration.

The General Training Module should be taken by those who are going to English-speaking countries to undertake work experience or training programmes, not for a degree level, or for immigration purposes.  

The General Training Module is not designed to test the full range of formal language skills required for academic purposes.

Is there any age limit for taking the test?
IELTS is not recommended for candidates under 16 years.  However, if they wish to take the test, they may.
What happens if I want to postpone the test?

If you want to postpone or transfer the test, you must inform us in writing no later than five (5) weeks before the test date.  A fee of Rp. 450.000 will be charged for this service. Transfer of test dates are allowed ONCE ONLY.

Candidates who wish to postpone or transfer test dates within the five (5)-week period prior to the test date will be treated as a cancellation and receive NO REFUND.

Can I cancel the test and get a refund?

Any requests for a refund must be made at least five (5) weeks before the test date.  25% of the test fee paid will be charged as an administration fee.

Candidates who wish to cancel their registration within the five (5) weeks prior to the test date; you will NOT receive any refund.

Candidates who seek to cancel their registration or postpone test dates within the five (5)-week period prior to the test date will only receive a refund of 75% of the test fee paid if they can satisfy the centre that their ability to sit the test has been affected by illness or serious cause.

Serious causes include:

  • Illness – e.g. hospital admission or serious injury (does not include minor illness such as a mild cold)
  • Loss or bereavement – death of an immediate family member (parent, parent-in-law, sibling, spouse or child)
  • Hardship/trauma – victim of crime, victim of a traffic accident
  • National service

The above causes must be supported by official documents such as medical report, police report, etc.

What will happen if I am LATE or ABSENT?

You will not be permitted to sit the examination if you arrive late.   No candidates will be allowed to enter the exam room after 08.50 AM.  You will lose the full test fee; no refund will be made to you.

Candidates who are absent on the test day without giving prior written notice will lose their full test fee.  

However, if the absence is caused by illness or serious causes, the supporting document such as medical report, police report, etc has to be provided within three (3) calendar days to the staff at the registration point after the test day.  A full fee will be refunded.

Can I have the results RE-MARKED (Enquiry on Result) if I am not satisfied with them?

If you wish to have your results Re-Marked, you must do this within six weeks after the result is released.  The fee for the re-mark is GBP 60 per candidate and the full fee will be refunded if the score on the re-marked module be higher.  

Please note that the Enquiry on Results (EOR) can take up to eight weeks to complete.

Do you accept candidates with special requirements?
Candidates with Special Requirements must inform the centre before they pay for their test fee.  Relevant supporting materials (medical certificates, doctor’s letter, etc) must be submitted at least three (3) months prior to the test date.
When do I get my results?

The result will be available 13 calendar days after the test date.  

The result will be mailed to you on the 13th day after the test date.  Please ensure that you provide a valid correspondence address on the application form.

Candidates may request to collect their results personally.  This request must be made at the point of registration.  You must collect the results (TRF – Test Result Form) in person and you must bring proof of identity (original passport or Indonesian ID card only).  If someone else will be collecting your TRF for you, a copy of your identity, a signed letter of authority, and an original identity of your representative must be given to the staff at registration point.

Please note that we are not permitted to give results over the phone or email.

Candidates can also view their results online on the 13th day (after 3 PM).  The site to check results is https://ielts.britishcouncil.org/Results

You are given only ONE copy of the Test Report Form (TRF).  As part of our service, the British Council can send five extra copies on your behalf to institutions via registered mail.  If you require more than five extra copies to be sent to institutions, or if your request is made two months after the date of the exam, you will need to pay Rp. 50.000 for each copy of the TRF.

If you wish to have the TRF sent via courier service (DHL), a fee per address is applicable.

* The IELTS result is valid for two years.

How soon can I repeat the test?
There is NO limit on taking the test; you can take as many as you want. However, you will be charged for another GBP 120 (IDR Rate for the opening month) per application.
