Here is the finalist in alphabetical order:

Calvin Hadiardja (Bandung; b.1981) is the creative director & owner of DPc and Brand Manager and Marketing Director of Label Ink, a lifestyle brand for the design community and creative people. Calvin’s product-design approach has encouraged LabelThink to adopt unconventional materials and 3D shapes into their products: from sketchbooks, agenda, greeting cards to other design tools.

Didi Diarsa (Depok; b. 1974) is the owner of Furniture Aktif, which uses pinewood waste from Europe to produce furniture for school and business. His eco-friendly chairs and tables are designed to support the active-learning process in Indonesian schools. This has led him as finalist in the Asia Europe Classroom Award in 2004.

Fauzy Prasetya (Bandung; b.1982) is co-founder, director, and chief designer of Kandura, His company designs and produces unconventional ceramic products such as the tile replicas for the majestic Museum Bank Indonesia conservation project. That project has since helped extend his brand overseas. Fauzy works with local craftsmen in Kiara Cindong who trace their skills back to three-generation. The collaboration has helped their local economy survive the 1998 crisis.

Handry Limorvell (Tangerang; b. 1977) is owner of Morvell Group of Companies The company designs and develops tools from thermo-plastic material for automotive, home appliances, food and beverage, and educational products mainly for Southeast Asian market. Handry adopted a networked approach to production, which has since helped establish a community of professional and experts in the industry.

Happy Astidiana Paramitasari (Surabaya; b.1977) is owner of CV. Citramedia & Partners. The company provides consultancy in the field of product design, furniture, and craft for small medium enterprises. The company recently initiated a community development-based recycling programme, DESIGN-TRASH.

Henry Gunawan (Bandung; b.1974) is owner and director of HGT Architect, He’d worked for the renowned firm of Robert A.M. Stern Architects in 2000-2005 before setting up on his own. Today, his full-service architecture firm produces, designs and conduct studies in the fields of architecture, interior design, adaptive re-use, and master planning.

Johansen Samsoedin (Jakarta; b.1975), is co-founder, partner, and co-principal architect at PT. Aboday Design, The one-stop architecture and interior design firm integrates the practice of Corporate Social Responsibility into their business, including designing school buildings for orphans. In his personal time, Johansen shares his knowledge and experience with architecture students from a number of Jakarta’s universities.

Meilati Murniani (Jakarta; b.1974) is Director of Balebarang (www.balebarang.com) and conceptor, designer, and shareholder of Segarra. Balebarang focuses on interior and furniture design (Balebarang). Segarra offers Food & Beverage restaurant concept and recently opened the first beach club in Ancol, Jakarta. Meilati was Gold Prize winner in the craft category of the Indonesia Good Design Selection in 2002.

Nelly Lolita Daniel (Bandung; b.1974) is director and principal designer of LABO Architecture and Design, The research-based architecture firm focuses on urban design, architecture, and interior and product design. It aims to create sustainability and balance between the built- and socio-economic environments. Nelly recently earned a Special Mention at the International Architecture and Urban Design Competition for her “re-envisioning the future of Jakarta”.

Satya Brahmantya (Yogyakarta; b.1975) works as product designer for PT. Lunar Mulia Kreasi, a Sustainable Furnishing Council member company that promotes sustainable business practices in local and international market. The use of recycled materials in their diverse collection of home accessories and furnishing products is now over 70%. In 2003, Indonesia’s Department of Culture & Tourism recognised Bram as a Young Craft Expert.
