Creativity & The Economy
Creativity is the most important driver of the global economy of the 21st Century.
Today, the creative sectors of music, design, fashion, film & television, interactive software, communication, visual arts, performing arts, and publishing account for over 50% of world’s consumption.
In UK, this creative industry equals banking as the largest sector in the economy. In 2006, it contributes 7.3% of UK’s GDP, 13% of its export, and nearly 2 million jobs.
In just a decade, creative entrepreneurships have transformed post-industrial centres like Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester and Liverpool into creative cities of film, design, music, and art.
