WHY WE DO IT
Why we bring people and cultures together
The British Council is in India to build appreciation for the UK's values, ideas and achievements abroad. We try to nurture mutually beneficial relationships with other countries, thereby strengthening the diversity of British culture.
EXCHANGE OF CULTURE
We want to increase international recognition of the range and quality of learning opportunities in the UK. Education is very important to us, so we want to strengthen educational co-operation between the UK and other countries.

We hope that by doing this we will raise awareness of the UK's democratic values and processes, and through partnerships with other countries we aim to strengthen good governance and support human rights.

LEARNING FROM EACH OTHER
Here at the British Council we try to present a generally positive picture of our country, but we do not hide its problems; in fact, we welcome and listen to all comments made by our members. We believe that an open and honest exchange of opinion and experience, acknowledging difficulties where they may exist, is the only way to win respect and trust.
