GRANTS FOR DOCTORAL STUDY

Open for applications for 2012-13.

GRANTS TOWARDS COMPLETING DOCTORAL STUDY AT UK UNIVERSITIES

3 or 4 grants a year are given to help Indian nationals doing doctorates at UK universities who are in their final year. Currently £1000 they are meant as a contribution towards completing the doctorate.

Subjects covered include: history, literature, archaeology, philosophy, performing and creative arts

Subjects not covered include: management, sciences, economics, law, development studies, publishing

This list is illustrative and intended as a guide. Grants are made at the Secretary’s discretion.

Who is eligible?

Applicants should

be Indian Citizens normally living in India
be between 25 and 38 years
have a good knowledge of English
be within sight of completing their doctoral studies at a UK university
not have received a CWIT grant in the last 5 years
be intending to return to study or work in India

How to apply

Applications should be made by e-mail direct to CWIT in London cwit@btinternet.com

Applications should include

a brief CV including both your e-mail and postal address
a statement describing your doctoral research and saying when you will present your thesis
mention of any other grants you are receiving or for which you are applying
the names and e-mail addresses of two referees in the UK who know your work-your PhD supervisor could be one
an assurance that you are within the eligible age range and have not received a grant from CWIT in the last 5 years

No form is required

Deadline for applications is 31 December 2012. Grants will be notified to successful applicants in late March 2013. Unsuccessful applicants will also be informed.
